Our Friends at the Winery at Wilcox in Settler’s Ridge, who so graciously invite us to Sip-n-Knit twice a month, have organized an opportunity for us to be charitable, loving and kind to the little babies at Children’s Hospital. And Children’s Hospital is gracious in allowing us to donate with few restrictions.
What are we going to do? Knit or crochet preemie baby hats and mitts.
What are the requirements/restrictions? Cute. Not Yellow. No Choking bits (buttons, beads, etc.)
Yep, that’s it. Easy.
So to get you started, this is the one I whipped up…
and here are some links to other cutie patterns…
Unisex Preemie cap– DK weight
Preemie Mitts– DK weight
Preemie Mitts – fingering weight (for my sock remnants!)
Viking Preemie Hat – fingering weight
Bunny Hop Pixie Hat– Worsted weight. (I think this is my next one!)
Preemie Crown Hat– Worsted weight, crochet
Miracle Preemie Hat– DK weight, crochet
Preemie Mittens– Worsted weight, crochet
Lindsey has some yarn available for you to use (mostly DK) or you can use whatever you have available that is NOT YELLOW.
They are collecting the hats until November, March of Dimes Prematurity Awareness Month. Please participate as you are able. I am collecting hats at the shop, too, if you are not able to drop them off at the Settler’s Ridge location.
